BEAUFORT-LOCATION: WELLINGTON RACETRACK, OSTEND

Harald Klingelhöller

°1954, Germany

Harald Klingelhöller challenges the well-known vocabulary of shape of sculpture. He likes to combine language and sculpture. For this work a cabinet was attached to a wall, made of aluminium. By polishing the aluminium the artist wanted to achieve a soft mirror effect that contrasts sharply with the rough structure of the back side. The place where the work is positioned matters, because the reflection of movements in the surrounding space is part of the work. Das Meer bei Ebbe geträumt (The sea, dreamt of in low tide) evokes the image of a shining water mass flowing back with low tide and being a symbol for the presence fading into absence.
