Aeneas Wilder

°1967, Scotland

Aeneas Wilder is fond of the way materials interact and the way in which light moves through and along the structures of his architectural constructions. In 2008 he made a study of a dome for the landscape park in the Hoeksche Waard in the Netherlands. For Beaufort03 this work was fully built anew. The wooden dome has a height of 12 metres and the light subtly falls through the wooden slats. The space is open and closed at the same time, and once inside a sacred atmosphere prevails, the visitor almost imagines himself to be in a temple. The sound of the surroundings is changing as well. Through the walls the coastal environment is visible, but if you look up only the wooden beams and clouds are present.
