NEVER GOOD ENOUGH

BEAUFORT-LOCATION: BEACH SINT-IDESBALD, KOKSIJDE

Evan Holloway

°1967, La Mirada USA

Evan Holloway works with a combination of various materials and systems and has an eye for change. In the concept of Never Good Enough he incorporated fine materials, such as silver and copper, referring to the art of jewellery. The result is a gigantic construction with a height of 14 metres and a width of 12 metres, made out of steel. The change is visible in a striking way: the northern sea climate oxidises the steel, as a result of which the work gets a different colour and look within six months after the installation. Never Good Enough represents a frame, through which the viewer looks at the sea. It makes us aware of the fact that not a single sculpture can compete with the real image of the sea and the breath taking vastness of the beach.
