NOLI ME TANGERE

CURRENT LOCATION: CARE CENTRE DE ARCHIPEL, ALMERE, THE NETHERLANDS

Luk Van Soom

The metal tree of 12 meters high and wide made by Luk Van Soom for Beaufort02, was moved from Wenduine to the garden of the care centre De Archipel in the Dutch Almere. The tree, which may be considered symbolically as the tree of life, gets a special meaning at this location. All inhabitants of Almere enter the health centre sooner or later, for instance for a doctor’s visit or a medical examination. Noli me tangere is a luminous tree of hope and glory. During daytime the sunlight is reflected in the gold of the fruit hanging from the tree branches fanning out. At night the tree changes by the artificial light into a combination of different colours.
