Wim Delvoye

Wim Delvoye designed Caterpillar 5bis in 2003. The work could be seen during Beaufort01 and was then moved the same year to Ground Zero in New York, the former location of the Twin Towers. Wim Delvoye made a new example for MDK (Maritime Service on the Coast), owner of the work of art. This work of art is characterized by a strange tension caused by bringing together two worlds, having nothing in common, such as modern times, symbolised by the caterpillar tractor and the medieval world, evoked by the decoration patterns of a gothic church. These two worlds find each other in this work and become one.
